Sir Christopher Wren's first major commission, funded by Archbishop Gilbert Sheldon. It is the University's ceremonial hall — degrees are still conferred here today.

The Bodleian Library · opened 1602

Founded by Sir Thomas Bodley, the 'Boduleian' is one of the oldest libraries in Europe and a legal deposit library — entitled to a copy of every book published in Britain.

Magdalen College Tower · completed 1509

The Great Tower stands over the River Cherwell. Every May Morning, the college choir sings from its top at 6am to crowds gathered on Magdalen Bridge below.
